Eligibility Criteria to Study MBBS
First things first, and that is your percentage in 12th or higher secondary final exams in major subjects- Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. You need to have an aggregate of 60% in the above mentioned major subjects to be eligible for studying MBBS in the Philippines. Also, you need a minimum of 50% marks in all the 3 subjects respectively. Students must pass all the other subjects and should compulsorily have English in their academic curriculum. This information is stated by the Education Ministry of the Philippines.
You must qualify for NEET (entrance exam for MBBS aspirants held on a national level in India). Even if you are not a rank holder in this entrance exam, you should at least be qualified or in simple terms, clear NEET exams. Since 2018, MCI has made it compulsory for every Indian student aspiring to become a doctor by studying MBBS abroad must qualify for NEET.
Note: Do not worry; there is no entrance exam to appear in the Philippines for studying MBBS if you have cleared NEET according to CHED of the Philippines. In case, if you have not cleared NEET then we suggest you clear NEET because unless you pass NEET, you cannot go to the Philippines for studying MBBS.
Coming to the topic at hand, students who belong to OBC and ST/SC only need the aggregate of 40% minimum in Physics, Biology, and Chemistry. The students must pass all subjects and English should be compulsorily included in the academic curriculum.
You must provide all the certificates to support your admission criteria as proof that you are eligible to study MBBS in the Philippines. These certificates include,
- Mark sheets.
- NOC (No Objection Certificate).
- TC (Transfer Certificate).
- Character Certificate.
- Other relevant certificates.
A medical examination certificate is required in order to check whether you are healthy enough or not. This is required because you will be traveling internationally and will stay there for at least 5 years till the completion of course. A strong recommendation letter can help you a lot to get admission in top university or college. Recommendation letters are basically to back your profile making it strong to be ignored by the institute. The letter could be by the dean of your institute, Principal, Chancellor or a Senior Professor stating positive about you to speed up your admission process. The letter can also be written by any other influencer or authority you think would be appropriate for your admission.
You should also make sure that you have no criminal records prior to applying for admission in the Philippines because of obvious reasons. No one wants to populate their institute with students from another country with a criminal history.
